Center and Laboratory Membership - FAQs

These are answers to common questions that sleep disorders centers and laboratories for sleep related breathing disorders have about membership with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM):

Can any sleep disorders center or laboratory for sleep related breathing disorders become a member of the AASM?

No. Only sleep disorders centers and laboratories that are accredited by the AASM are invited to become members.

Our center is accredited by the AASM. Why is there no listing for our practice in the directory of accredited sleep centers and labs on the AASM’s Web sites?

The searchable directory of sleep centers and labs that appears on the AASM’s Web sites contains contact information for accredited sleep centers and labs that choose to become member centers and labs of the AASM. The directory is only one of the many benefits of becoming an accredited center member or an accredited laboratory member.

How soon after becoming a member will our listing appear in the directory of sleep centers and labs on the AASM’s Web sites?

Once we have received your application it will take up to a week for your listing to appear in the online directory.

Are accredited centers and laboratories allowed to use the AASM logo in promotional materials?

An AASM member logo is available for use only by accredited centers and laboratories that also become member centers and labs of the AASM.

Are there any restrictions on how an accredited member center or lab uses the AASM logo?

Yes. Please review the AASM’s Trademark Policy to see what restrictions apply.

How do we get a copy of the AASM member logo?

If your accredited center or lab is a member of the AASM, please review the AASM’s Trademark Policy and complete the Logo Use Agreement form. Once we have received your signed Logo Use Agreement form you will receive an e-mail with an electronic copy of the logo in these two formats: JPG and EPS.

Is membership open to centers or labs that have earned provisional accreditation?

No. Centers and laboratories are invited to become AASM members only after earning full accreditation.

Since we have more than one accredited facility, do we receive a discount if each facility becomes a member?

No. There is no discount available for multiple center or lab memberships.

Since our medical director is an AASM member, is our center considered an AASM member?

No. Center and individual memberships are different and require separate applications, and both categories of membership have their own unique benefits. Membership in one category does not mean you are considered a member of another category.

Contact the AASM national office for more information or for answers to additional questions about membership for centers and laboratories.
